Quality control processes that produce zero defects or inefficiency is our dream. Zero Quality Control (ZQC) is an attitude that supports our teams in their daily work. It is easy to measure but very difficult to implement.

The ZQC approach recognizes that it is natural for people to make mistakes. It does not point fingers or hassle people to “do better next time.” Instead, it uses Mistake Proofing methods, materials, and devices to keep errors from becoming defects.

Another proven aspect of Zero Quality Control is Visual Management. Mistake Proofing and Visual Management are inseparable, so we will explore both during this session. Together they help us reduce effort, enhance our reputation with customers and funders, and result in a bottom-line increase.

Learning Objectives:
1. Learn the five situations where defect most happen
2. Learn the principles of Zero Quality Control
3. Learn how to begin mistake proofing work
4. Learn how visual management is an essential part of quality management

In 1995, Daniel Goleman argued that how people manage their feelings and relationships is at least as important to personal and business success as knowledge, skills, and abilities. He called this skill emotional intelligence (EQ) to distinguish it from IQ. His book remained on the NYTimes best-seller list for a year and a half.

Since then, the importance of EQ to business has only grown. Understanding how the brain processes emotional signals can make a huge difference in your business and personal relationships.

Here are some questions to consider:

1. How do you react when something goes wrong in your business or personal life?
2. Do you know how your emotions and reactions affect the behavior of others?
3. Do you know how people in your business and personal life perceive you?

Leaning Objectives

As a result of attending this webinar, you will:
1. Have a better understanding of how the brain processes emotions and thoughts
2. Be better able to understand your feelings, turn intention into action, and make informed decisions about what matters to you
3. Be empowered to build stronger relationships in your personal and business life

Use worksite credentials to build reputation and increase profit

Quality management is tough when business is busy. But loss of profit and reputation due to callbacks will eat away at your growth, wasting the opportunities of a hot market.

That’s why BPI developed the Site Supervisor Certificate (SSC), a credential to ensure that lead technicians have the skills and knowledge needed to ensure completion of the scope of work and designate critical worksite responsibilities.

The Site Supervisor Certificate shows that the worker is qualified to:
• Lead interactions with the client
• Manage personnel
• Ensure that materials installed and work performed on the job site are completed in a safe and effective manner.
• Maintain quality control and worksite documentation
• Confirm that all work is completed to applicable industry standards and specifications.

The SSC gives assurance that the worksite lead has the knowledge, skills, and experience to meet industry standards and maintain quality.
Learning Objectives
• Develop an understanding of the scope of the Site Supervisor Certificate.
• Identify the key SSC prerequisite experience requirements.

• Understand how to access online training to prepare for the SSC online exam.

When we want to motivate someone, we often dangle a carrot to get more of what we want and raise a stick to eliminate what we don’t. We use statements that sound like threats or promises. “If you do this, then I’ll do that,” we say.

But does it work? Not really, and even when it does there are costs. People feel resentment when they are presented with sticks and carrots, and resentment does not breed productivity.

If you need a better way to motivate people, then this is the session for you. If you want to develop loyal, happy, and proud employees, you don’t want to miss this presentation.

Learning Objectives:

• Learn why traditional rewards and recognition don’t work well
• Learn the difference between engagement and motivation
• Learn why most approaches to increasing employee motivation are not based in scientific research

Presenter Tom Grandy and a successful contractor

The single highest cost of doing business within a company is non-billable time.  This is time the field labor tech is paid for, but that cannot be charged to the customer.

During this session we will look at the real cost of non-billable time and how to build it into the company’s pricing.  Just as importantly, we will look at specific strategies to reduce non-billable time and increase the company’s net profit.

Non-billable time can’t be eliminated, but it CAN be reduced and accounted for.

Specific Learning Objectives:

Attendees will learn to calculate the true cost of non-billable time.  Once the cost is captured several ways of reducing the cost will be discussed.

Session Outline:

This is not a theory session.  We will discuss multiple ways to reduce the high cost of non-billable time that can be put into practice the next day.
