How to Get VA Reimbursement for BPI Exam Fees
Eligible veterans may receive reimbursement for BPI certification exam fees through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Applications must be submitted within one (1) year of the exam date.
The following BPI exams are currently pre-approved for VA reimbursement:
- Building Analyst- Technician
- Building Analyst-Professional
- Infiltration Duct Leakage Controller
- Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Professional
- Heating Professional
- Manufactured Housing Professional
- Multifamily Building Analyst Professional
- Multifamily Building Operator Professional
- Air Leakage Control Installer (ALCI)
You may qualify if you are enrolled in one (1) of the following VA education programs:
- Montgomery GI Bill®
- Veterans Educational Assistance Program (VEAP)
- Post-9/11 GI Bill®
- Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance (DEA)
- Montgomery GI Bill® – Selected Reserve
- Reserve Educational Assistance Program (REAP)
Step 3: Apply for Exam Fee Reimbursement
Submit VA Form 22-0803 (Application for Reimbursement of Certification Test Fees) to your VA regional processing office.

Training Reimbursement
If you complete training prior to taking a BPI exam through a BPI Test Center or approved training provider, you may also qualify for GI Bill® reimbursement. Confirm that the training provider is VA-approved and contact your local VA office for training reimbursement instructions.
