Approved Technical Standards

BPI works to advance the building performance industry by developing essential industry standards that foster quality and consistency throughout the nation’s home performance and weatherization workforce.

Note: To allow the industry time to adapt to this new standard, BPI will transition to ANSI/BPI-1200-S-2015 on January 1, 2016. Until that date the Building Analyst, Envelope Professional, Heating Professional, and Air Conditioning/Heat Pump Professional certification exams will reference the 9/26/13 version of BPI-1200-T-201x Standard Practice for Basic Analysis of Buildings.

The HEP Energy Auditor, Quality Control Inspector, Retrofit Installer, and Crew Leader certification exams currently reference the BPI Building Analyst (BA) Professional Standard and will not be affected at this time. Additionally, the BA Standard will remain the standard of reference for work completed by BPI GoldStar Contractors until January 1, 2016, when ANSI/BPI-1200 will take its place.
