“Continuous improvement is not about the things you do well— that’s the work. Continuous improvement is about removing the things that get in the way of the work. The headaches, things that slow you down; that’s what continuous improvement is about.” —Bruce Hamilton

Superior results and improvement are accomplished by people. Culture and behaviors are what delivers those results. People are what make the improvement culture sustainable over time. Quality at the source is imperative. Quality at the source is developed in each work task, not driven from outside the work being accomplished. Quality is rooted in a work process and not in the people involved. The same is true of an imperfect process. “Common people following a good process is better than superior people following a poor process.” It’s not the people, it’s the process.
