Welcome Test Centers & Proctors!

Happy New Year BPI Test Centers and Proctors!
By BPI
We want to start by saying thank you for all your hard work and dedication last year. As you know, BPI performs QA reviews of certification exam video submissions. The QA process provides insight and data for proctor training that enhances exam consistency. We want to let you know that 2019 was one of your best years for proctor performance. Please keep up the good work!
Thank you for all you do for our home performance industry and wish you a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2020. We would like to provide you with a few reminders and some updates for 2020.
BPI News You Can Use
BPI News for Test Centers & Proctors for January 2020
By BPI
Proctors, please make sure you are checking your certification expiration dates. You can find this information in your online Proctor Account, or on your BPI Certification Certificate(s) and ID card. This will help ensure there are no lapses in certification as that can affect your proctoring status. Proctors for BPI field exams must maintain active certification in each designation they test candidates for. As an example, a proctor conducting a BPI Building Analyst field exam must maintain an active BPI Building Analyst certification.
Test Center Managers can also review this information in their online BPI Test Center Account under the Related Certified Professionals tab where they can see all account related proctors, proctor certifications, and proctor certification expiration date(s).

Candidate Photos
Proctors are required to take photos of all exam candidates at the time of the exam and upload the candidate photo at the Select Exam page in the BPI testing system. Proctors will select the “Upload Candidate Photo” link as shown below. Candidates will not receive their certification credentials unless BPI has an updated photo on file.
HEP Exam(s) Pre-Approval
Candidates that are interested in taking the Energy Auditor exams, should submit their updated approval letter (must be dated by BPI on or after 2/28/2019) to the Test Center at time of scheduling. The Energy Auditor certification scheme was updated as of 2/28/2019 and all candidates need to apply/reapply to make sure they meet the additional prerequisites before they will be permitted access to the Energy Auditor exams. BPI is not able to immediately approve a candidate which is why it is so important for a Test Center to ask for a copy of their approval at time of scheduling for any HEP designation exam. We want to ensure that candidates do not travel to an exam site only to find out they cannot sit for the exam(s) without the prior approval.
BPI Building Science Principles (BSP) Reference Guide and Certificate Exam
Please remember that as active BPI Test Centers and certification exam proctors, you continue to have access to the BPI Building Science Principles (BSP) Reference Guide and corresponding certificate exam at substantially discounted pricing. You may purchase a single copy of the guide and/or exam, or in bulk, and are allowed to resell these products at what your market will bear. To take advantage of this pricing, please reach out directly to Nancy Kaplan for additional information. (nkaplan@bpi.org or 877-274-1274; extension 110) BPI Certified Professionals can earn six CEU credits for earning the BSP Certificate, and if a Test Center offers training, it’s possible for the training to provide additional CEU credits.
A New Reference Guide and Certificate are Coming, Along With a Half-Day Training Opportunity!
BPI is currently working on the upcoming release of its Healthy Housing Principles (HHP) Reference Guide and exam. The format will model the BPI Building Science Principles Reference Guide and the content will cover the ‘Keep It’ principles related to Keep It Clean, Keep It Dry, Keep It Pest Free, Keep It Maintained, etc.
We are very excited to offer a special half-day of training on January 21, 2020, prior to the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy, Inc. (ACEEE) 2020 Conference on Health, Environment and Energy to be held in New Orleans! You can find more information about the conference linked here. This training will be provided by Kevin Kennedy of Children’s Mercy Hospital of Kansas City; Joe Medosch of Hayward Healthy Home Score; and Rick Hall of Building Science Professional Training, LLC. Single day pricing for just the one-day training for those unable to attend the full conference is available. Attendees at the pre-conference HHP workshop will receive a copy of the Healthy Housing Principles Reference Guide and an HHP exam code as part of the attendance fee.
Building Analyst Upgrades
BPI will be launching a pilot testing program tentatively scheduled for the second quarter of 2020 for the new Building Analyst Professional certification (BAP), and the additional Building Analyst Technician (BAT) certification. The new BAP certification will include a combination of the current BA and Envelope certifications. The BAT certification will include diagnostic components of the current BA and Envelope certifications developed for the technician. More information coming soon.
