The BPI management staff brings several decades of combined experience in administration, contracting, and building science applications to BPI, providing the core resources for program implementation and production.

Larry Zarker

Chief Executive Officer

With over 30 years of experience in the residential buildings sector, Larry has managed the national expansion of BPI’s standards, credentialing and quality assurance programs as CEO of BPI since 2006. Under his leadership BPI’s active certifications have increased from 1,000 to more than 29,000, the number of contracting companies earning BPI Accredited Contractor status has grown from 106 to nearly 700, and the network of exam proctors has increased from 18 to over 1,300 today. In 2010, Larry directed BPI’s successful effort to become an ANSI accredited standards development organization. Prior to his work with BPI, he served as Vice President of Marketing with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Research Center, where he worked for 20 years.

Bruce DeMaine

Chief Operating Officer

Bruce joined BPI in May of 2011 and now holds the position of Chief Operating Officer. A 25-year veteran of the environmental certification and accreditation field, Bruce led multiple American National Standards Institute accreditation and certification committees in the review of ISO standards and approval of certification bodies. He most recently served as Vice President of Certifications for the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI), where he was responsible for the certification of buildings to the LEED ratings systems. Prior to joining GBCI, DeMaine founded Precision Preservation and Inspection (PPI), a consulting firm specializing in areas of ISO quality systems, strategic planning, business process improvement, environmental compliance and safety initiatives. Before launching PPI, DeMaine spent ten years as Director of Corporate QA, Facilities and Safety for NSF International, a public health and safety company located in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Tiger Adolf

Western Regional Director

Tiger joined BPI in 2010 and holds the position of Western Regional Director. She brings more than 20 years experience working with federal and state agencies, as well as investor-owned, cooperative association and municipal utilities. Prior to joining the BPI team, Tiger was the Executive Director of the Wyoming Energy Council, Inc. (WEC), a non-profit corporation focused on nonrenewable energy resource conservation. She was responsible for administering the Weatherization Assistance Program in southeastern Wyoming and also for launching a Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program in the state. Tiger was instrumental in making WEC the first independent training organization in Wyoming.

John Jones

National Technical Director

John joined BPI in 2010 and holds the position of National Technical Director. Previously, John was the Program Manager of the Home Performance Programs for the Residential Efficiency and Affordability Program at NYSERDA. Since joining NYSERDA in 2005, as a Project Manager, John has provided technical support as well as assisted in the daily operations of the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® and New York ENERGY STAR Homes programs. He was the Quality Assurance Manager for the NYSERDA programs and has overseen many product demonstration projects. Prior to joining NYSERDA, John owned and operated a residential and light commercial HVAC business serving central New York and served as an instructor for the New York Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program.

Vikki Murphy

Director of Test Center Development

Vikki joined BPI in 2001, with extensive field and administrative experience in the energy conservation field, including the New York State Weatherization Assistance Program. Formerly, she served as past president of the New York State Weatherization Director's Association. As the Director of Test Center Development, Vikki oversees a growing network of more than 300 test centers offering training and BPI exam proctoring.

Sally Larmon

Director of Administration

Sally joined BPI in 2003. She is responsible for managing our accounting and administrative activities. Sally has extensive management experience in the banking industry. She worked for both Chase Bank and Key Bank during her career. Sally held positions in branch management, consumer lending and loan servicing.

Leslie McDowell

Marketing and Communications Director

Leslie joined BPI in October 2010 and holds the position of Marketing and Communications Director. Leslie is responsible for developing BPI’s communications strategy for optimal success across online, print and broadcast media. Prior to joining BPI, she served as Communications Director for CMC Energy Services, an energy efficiency program administrator and independent training organization. As a private consultant she served federal contracts within the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, several agencies within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and private energy research organizations.

Matt Anderson

Manager of Certification Development

Matt joined BPI in 2001, and is responsible for the development and maintenance of our national certification program. Matt and his team manage and provide support for certification committee members as well as develop policies, procedures, and processes for compliance with ISO/ANSI 17024. He has a background in residential, commercial, and industrial construction and has performed analysis on numerous residential projects.

Lynn Griffith

Manager of Certifications

Lynn joined BPI in 2010 and is responsible for the delivery of our national certification program. Lynn and her team recently automated the Certification Welcome Packet process. She has a 16 year background in management in the Private Banking industry and previously managed the Home Care division with a medical supply company.

Carol Ann Ohnsman

Manager of Accreditation

Carol Ann joined BPI in July, 2006. As Manager of Accreditation, Carol Ann is responsible for accreditation operations, including the processing of new accreditations and accreditation renewals. Carol and staff recently automated the new and renewal processes for accreditation. Carol Ann has a business background in retail management and mortgage operations.

Nancy Kaplan

Manager of Test Center Development

Nancy joined BPI in March, 2009. She is responsible for overseeing daily operations for new and existing test centers. Nancy has a background in child and family services, as well as accounting work. She previously worked for Wildwood School and St. Anne’s Institute, as well as the Saratoga School of Ballet.

Tony Peters

National Manager of Quality Assurance for Test Centers and Proctors

Tony joined BPI as a field representative in 2004. In his current position, Tony and staff have recently developed and are now ready to deliver QA evaluations of test centers and proctors. Tony has a background in technical education, refrigeration, air conditioning, electrical construction and maintenance. He has nearly 20 years of combined experience with HVAC service and weatherization agencies.

Bill Meehan

National Manager of Quality Assurance for Accreditation

Bill Meehan joined BPI in 2010 as National Manager of Quality Assurance for Accreditation. Bill is responsible for overseeing the national quality assurance services provided to companies that hold BPI accreditation. Bill worked for New York State for 24 years in the Weatherization Assistance Program and has extensive field and administrative experience in the energy efficiency field. In his last position at the state, Bill assisted statewide Weatherization Assistance Programs to develop, implement and maintain DOE contracts.

Geri Valentine

Finance Manager

Geri joined BPI in 2005. She is responsible for all financial operations and acts as liaison to our accounting firm. She has an extensive accounting background and held various positions in that field. Geri previously worked for the Food Industry Alliance of NYS, the Michaels Group and the Galesi Group.
