ENERGY STAR® is probably the best-known brand in energy efficiency in America today. The Home Performance with ENERGY STAR initiative from the Department of Energy (DOE) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was designed to encourage a comprehensive, whole-house approach to improving energy efficiency and comfort at home, while helping to protect the environment. An increasing number of utilities, state energy offices and other agencies are using Home Performance with ENERGY STAR as an important part of their residential energy efficiency portfolio.
BPI is deeply involved in the ongoing development and deployment of this important program. In fact, BPI or equivalent standards are cited under certification and Quality Assurance protocols as requirements for the contractor development portions of this successful national home energy efficiency retrofit scheme.
With over 10 years of experience as a national standards development and credentialing organization for home performance retrofit work, we can help guide you every step of the way as you implement the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program in your region.
We’ve already helped agencies like the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), Energy Trust of Oregon and Austin Energy. Most recently, we’ve helped the Maryland Energy Administration launch a new home performance contractor training infrastructure for its Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program, offered through the state’s community college network.
