ProctorThe following update applies to BPI proctors approved to deliver examinations to candidates.  This update applies in cases where the proctor has also delivered the training of the candidate.

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY:

Trainers/Proctors shall be allowed to deliver the field examination to candidates they have trained provided that:

  • the candidates are not trained to the test,
  • candidate's performance is not shared with anyone other than the appropriate BPI contact, and
  • confidentiality and the impartiality are not compromised.

There had been a concern that a person providing training and proctoring would be in conflict with requirements in ISO 17024.  However the clause in ISO 17024 states:

(ISO/IEC 17024-2003 Clause 4.2.5) - "The certification body shall not offer or provide training, or aid others in the preparation of such services, unless it demonstrates how training is independent of the evaluation and certification of persons to ensure that the confidentiality and impartiality are not compromised."

BPI is the certification body and does not provide training directly; however, BPI applies this requirement to proctors from BPI affiliate organizations who conduct training in preparation for BPI Certification examinations.  As such, a process is in place to maintain the confidentiality and the impartiality.  Each proctor will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement and agree to follow the proctoring process as outlined by BPI and as updated from time to time by BPI.

BPI believes that this clarification will assist our affiliates to develop a better business model in providing BPI certifications while protecting the integrity of the examination process.
