Ongoing opportunities for continuing education credits ensure you always have access to the latest knowledge,
as well as the opportunity to expand your offering – or your crew.
Recertification is required every three years and can be completed three different ways:
Complete and submit 30 hours
of qualified continuing education and pass a field examination only for each designation
Complete and submit 10 - 29
hours of qualified continuing education and pass a (50 question) written examination and field examination
for each designation
Complete and submit less than
10 hours of qualified continuing education and successfully pass a (100 question) written examination and a
field examination for each designation
- Participate in qualifying continuing education before your certification expires. Qualifying
continuing education may include:
- BPI Recognized Training by a network of affiliates
- Training completed where a candidate can demonstrate satisfactorily to BPI that it
aligns with the Primary Knowledge Areas, Knowledge Essential Task Lists (KETL) and the BPI Standards
- NOTE: Candidates who reach certain advanced levels are only required to meet the requirements
of their level; they are not responsible for meeting the lower level requirements as well.

- Complete the applicable exams successfully with a passing grade of 70% or higher
